Bosque de Paz
Tucked away in an area of undeniable natural beauty is the family-run eco lodge Bosque de Paz. Owned and run by the Gonzalez family you are guaranteed a wonderful stay where you will be made to feel welcome and at home. The lodge has just 12 rooms, each en-suite with a veranda or balcony. The simple, but tasteful furnishings are complimented by local paintings and pieces of pottery. Home-cooked, delicious meals are served in the restaurant and there is also a sitting area with a library and TV where you can relax. Ardent conservationists, the family plough any profits back in to purchasing more rainforest to preserve and are keen to pass their knowledge and passion on to guests. The grounds are truly stunning – a haven, the perfect get-away from it all. Wander through the delightful orchid gardens, spend time by the crystal clear streams or take a hike through the cloudforest to visit the mesmerising waterfall. All this without leaving the grounds.
Why go to Bosque de Paz?
If you want to get away from it all and immerse yourself in a jungle paradise, then this is the place for you. You can take it all at your own pace. There is ample to see and explore in the grounds of this 450 hectare property and there is also plenty to do nearby too. This is the perfect balance between peace, nature and exploration. As well as the walks and hikes on the reserve nearby you have the Poás and Arenal Volcanos that are accessible on day trips, there is also Sarapiquí with all its biodiversity and beautiful tropical birdlife and the Ramsar Wetland site Caño Negro is nearby and well worth visiting.
Wildlife around Bosque de Paz
With the lodge nestling amongst the cloudforest it is no wonder that the birdlife here is fantastic. There are feeders throughout the grounds and outside the restaurant windows so you do not need to venture far to see some of the beauties that call this area home. Aside from the 300+ bird species, the plants and flowers attract a lot of butterflies which are a pleasure to behold and keep your eyes peeled for the aguotis who often wander the grounds. You will hear and possibly see the monkeys while wandering the forest trails too so keep your eyes peeled.
