Hacienda La Isla
A simple colonial style lodge, well placed for exploring Braulio Carrillo National Park and Sarapiqui.
Hacienda La Isla is open all year
Hacienda La Isla
Hacienda La Isla Boutique Lodge is tucked away in the foothills of Braulio Carrillo National Park. Surrounded by beautiful gardens which are an extension of the rainforest, the hacienda is steeped in Spanish colonial charm and history.
Originally founded by the Vega Figueroa family, part of the farm was converted in 2008 by the current owner to the boutique lodge that it is today.
The simply furnished rooms are all different in design and each has a name rather than a number. The different names are a nod to a historical period or occasion in Costa Rican history. Antique furnishings and artefacts continue the colonial theme.
The kitchen serves excellent Tico fusion food and is prepared using fresh, local ingredients as far as possible, seasonal fruits from the hacienda’s orchards appear on the breakfast table each morning, together with freshly baked breads and other delights. Guest can enjoy their meals in the open restaurant looking out onto the gardens, river and rainforest beyond, sheltered from the elements by a high palm thatched roof.
The lodge has an environmentally friendly approach and promotes a good sustainability programme. Almost all of the staff are from the local area too.
