Manatus Hotel

Manatus Hotel has 12 beautifully appointed rooms designed to enhance your holiday experience. The rooms are spacious, elegant and decorated in soft, neutral tones. Dashes of colour adorn the rooms, reminding you that you are on the Caribbean coast. The rooms are uncluttered, with beautiful wooden floors and high ceilings. The luxury here is not out of place in the rainforest and fits well with the luscious forest surroundings. The service at Manatus is excellent, they want you to enjoy your stay here. There is a spa for papering treatments, a bar serving cold beers, welcome after a day out exploring the area and the restaurant serves gourmet food with a Caribbean twist. Located on the edge of the Tortuguero canal, there are plenty of places to relax and enjoy the scenery too either sunbathing by the pool, or seeking a shady spot on the deck.

Why go to Manatus Hotel?

Tortuguero is a unique and exotic place, it has a feeling of the undiscovered and untouched wilderness about it. Here you can experience wildlife, adventure and relaxation. It’s all down to the location and the ecology. You are surrounded by nature in seemingly untouched verdant rainforest – negotiating the terrain either on foot or more commonly via the winding water channels. It’s exotic, romantic and there is an abundance of flora and fauna waiting for you. There is no better place to relax after a hard day exploring the area than to unwind at the classically beautiful Manatus Hotel – a small oasis in amongst the untamed wilderness of Tortuguero.

Wildlife around Manatus Hotel

Tortuguero is one of the most diverse national parks in Costa Rica with 11 ecological habitats. They range from high rainforest to herbaceous marsh environments. There is a coastal rainforest with a seemingly infinite maze of serpentine canals and streams threading through it, fed by rivers flowing down from the central mountain range. One of the big drawcards for this area is turtles. Leatherbacks nest from February to April and the Hawksbill and green turtles from July to October. But there is plenty of wildlife here from sloths and monkeys in the forest canopy to toucans and other colourful birds down to crocodiles in the winding canals and waterways. There is always plenty to see in each different habitat right down to the colourful frogs, toads and insects.
