Poco a Poco Hotel & Spa

Since its inception, the hotel has slowly grown over the years, hence the name Poco a Poco, which means ‘little by little.  That said the friendly and cosy atmosphere has not been compromised.  The staff are an asset to the hotel and their warm welcome will ensure you feel right at home.  It’s just a short walk to the shops and restaurants in town and from the hillside location, you have great views.  You’ll be able to enjoy the hotel’s short nature trail, a lovely way to start your day. The Monteverde Cloudforest Reserve is within easy reacy, here you can follow trails with a local guide to gain an insight into this mysterious and alluring world, and encounter some of its abundant animal and bird life. The lodge offers rest and relaxation, with indoor and outdoor seating areas, a welcoming bar and restaurant where you chat to other guests, and undercover pool and Jacuzzi with swim-up bar, a great way to relax after a day of sightseeing.

The hotel’s gardens are a magnet for bird life.  With the main reserve around 5kms away, so you can soon be enjoying encounters with some of the 400 species of birds, hopefully including the resplendent quetzal, capuchin and howler monkeys, sloths, tapir and cats. This is also a haven for reptiles and amphibians. There’s a special garden dedicated to hummingbirds not far from the reserve.

Among the mammals, you will have the chance to see all three of the four main species of monkeys (capuchin, howler and spider) found in Costa Rica, white-nosed coatis, two species of deer, kinkajous, agoutis, peccaries, tayras and two species of sloths. Although rarely seen during the day, the park contains five species of cats: jaguars, pumas, ocelots, margays and jaguarondis.

There are 30 rooms across several categories. All are spacious with either 1 king or 2 queen size beds, have a telephone, coffee maker, hairdryer, safe, bathrobes, and en-suite bathroom with hot and cold water.

They are decorated with local artworks and wooden furniture.

Most rooms have a floor to ceiling window. Some overlook the village and gardens. There are 4 forest deluxe rooms which are perfect for couples, surrounded by gardens and the forest with a private Jacuzzi.
